After graduation in fall of 1963 joined the Navy was sent to hospital corps school-after graduation was assigned to US Marine Corp as a field medic-Sent to VietNam in July of 1965-served with various units of 1st and 3rd Marine Division-came home in January of 1967-discharged from Navy in 1967 started at MSSC majoring in Biology/Chemistry- earn BS degree specializing in Medical Technology with emphisis in Bacteriology. Have been in laboratory field ever since. In 1980 I joined the National Guard unit here in Joplin-spent 26years with them before retiring with 30 years service. That service included a 16month deployment to Iraq in 2003-2004.
Almost fourty years ago was lucky enough to meet the girl of my dreams- Barbara Jean Allen. She gave me everything I had always hoped for -a large family. We have 4 children-9 grandchildren-and now 3 great-grandchildren. I have lived a good life and am very happy.

School Story

Never will forget the look on Mr. Hart's face when he saw Rick Korns VW in the middle of the student lounge.

Senior year took COE for laboratory technician and worked at Freeman Hospital. For our COE convention I was going to demonstrate drawing blood. Sam Williams was my victim....and everything was going great till I stuck the needle in his arm....which Sam proceeded to utter "Oh SHI_" and passed out on the floor in front of the judges. I didn't do very good on my demonstration, but I think it was Judy Warden and Kay George helped revive Sam and the judges were very complementary to them for taking charge of the medical emergancy. Do remember Mr. Hobart wasn't too pleased- and Sam an I were pretty embarrased.

Cindy- wishing you a fabulous birthday. You know I remember our time at Crowder undergoing PLDC. That seems like it was a hundred years ago. You like me the time I spent with the Guards was an important part of my life- I miss those years and the brothers and sisters I had the pleasure to serve with. I pray your health is improving.
